The Practice of Bereginyas

THE PRACTICE OF BEREGINYAS is a spiritual holistic practice for women. It is based on the ancient Slavic Life Horoscope, which contains 27 aspects.

These 27 aspects exist within our being as virtues, and each of us carries them inside. Such as Truth, Determination, Freedom…

Connected with the Bereginya deity, we say that these 27 aspects are the 27 Bereginyas. (For example, Bereginya of Truth, Bereginja of Determination, Bereginya of Freedom…)

This practice is intended exclusively for women and is based on ancient Slavic knowledge. It represents one of the most powerful languages of movement through which female energy aligns with the principles of nature and the universe.

Each of the 27 Bereginya is activated through a specific body movement, an ancient Slavic folk symbol, an affirmation associated with her, a plant, and her totem animal.

When a woman connects with the 27 Bereginyas through the practice, she brings herself into harmony on the physical, emotional, and mental levels. She strengthens her energy field and enters a healthy balance of her feminine principle.

Although the horoscope applies to both men and women, the Bereginja practice is intended only for women. Because it is adapted to the female physique, hormones, fertility, and energy flow in the female body.

However, a woman can, from her energy space, practice for her man, brother, father, or son… In this way, she channels her feminine energy to empower and support her loved ones. Every woman who connects with the Bereginyas and embodies the virtues of the 27 Bereginyas through the practice attracts harmony, health, fertility, and success into her life. These benefits also extend to her surroundings, family, and partnerships. The one who has a Bereginya woman in their life is truly blessed.

Since the language of the Practice of Bereginyas is an energetic language, every movement has its sacred meaning, awakening, uniting, and strengthening the communication between our soul and material, earthly life. By performing these movements, energetic alignment occurs between us, the energy of Mother Earth, and the energy of the Sun’s light. Polarities are integrated, and opposites are harmonized.

Depending on the movement performed, a specific aspect of that Bereginya is activated. Through her, we observe ourselves, become aware of our relationship with that aspect, and wherever there is imbalance, the practice establishes energetic harmony.

All of this helps us live life consciously, aware of our personal power.

Who are Bereginyas ?

“I often imagine that our hands, our hearts, and our love are a living extension of the Bereginyas’ sacred force, and that together, through many of us, they weave a luminous tapestry of harmony.”

BEREGINYAS are an ancient Slavic deity of justice and protection. They represent the feminine aspect of the divine. The root of the word “Obereg” means “Protection,” while “Bereg” refers to a “Riverbank” or “Shore.” Every Slavic symbol can be considered an “Obereg” because protection is primarily their purpose. For this reason, among others, the Bereginyas communicate with us through symbols.
The symbolism of the “Bereg” also highlights the curves of Mother Earth herself. Hills, mountains, and slopes, as the curves and breasts of Mother Earth, represent fertility and abundance. Thus, the emphasized breasts in visual depictions of the Bereginyas, as well as in many female deities throughout historical heritage, relate to the importance of female fertility and maternal love, which protects, nourishes, and sustains life.

Bereginyas are also connected to all places near water, as their primary element is water. They can be described as “Water Fairies” and “Guardians of Water.” Since water as an element represents feminine energy—the element that remembers and transmits all information—Bereginyas protect and convey the mysteries of life. Those who preserve the purity of water on Mother Earth and bless the water through song are rewarded and spiritually and materially supported.

Bereginyas are goddesses who protect righteous people. They are guardians and protectresses who grant fertility, health, preservation of values, and the strength to overcome obstacles on the path of change. They are forces of nature, “spirits” of the earth, forests, wind, light, and water. They help maintain balance in nature and respect and harmonize natural cycles.

We can call on them for help when needed, but we will not receive it if we violate the laws of nature. On the contrary, any misuse of natural laws will bring lessons through which we learn about karma and goodness through our personal experiences.

This is not a punishment — it is the law of karma, strengthened through connection with the Bereginyas.

We can ask the Bereginyas for help in understanding and purifying our karma, healing our lives, our family tree, and contributing to humanity. Although Bereginyas are the feminine aspect of divinity, which becomes even stronger when embodied in a woman, they also help men — especially those who have a Bereginya woman by their side, an embodied Bereginya who supports them. Such harmony in marriage brings health and healing to the entire lineage.

Bereginyas can help us delve deeply into our unconscious field and understand the causes of problems, illnesses, blockages, and difficulties. Through communication with them, we have the opportunity to turn to nature and find remedies within it.

To return to nature is to come home to oneself. And in coming home to ourselves, we remember that we are nature. The Bereginyas walk beside us on that sacred path.”

One of the strongest embodiments of Bereginyas is realized through a woman. Every woman who connects with the Deity Bereginya — whether through embroidery, weaving symbols, singing songs, dancing, or practicing movements  — receives protection from negative external influences, strengthening of her energy field, inspiration to help others (especially other women), support in fertility, and development of her authentic gifts.

Through a woman, Bereginyas have a significant influence on karmic purification and can strongly harmonize all imbalances that affect human health, family, and fertility. A Bereginya woman lives and radiates a field of virtues, benefits, and well-being of various kinds.

Each Bereginya woman carries her specific gift, contributing to existence. She uses her talents to help the Bereginyas expand the field of favor and preserve values. I often imagine that our hands, our hearts, and our love are a living extension of the Bereginyas’ sacred force, and that together, through many of us, they weave a luminous tapestry of harmony.

My Expirience

My first bodily sensation when I read just the announcement for a Bereginya workshop was goosebumps all over my body and a pounding heart. Although I didn’t know what the practice was or who the Bereginyas were, I felt the call of something ancient that was extremely important for my life path. After coming into contact with the foundations of this knowledge, I continued my personal practice daily, deeply and devotedly.

Through practicing on my own, I came to open a vast informational field of knowledge, genetic potentials, insights, and benefits.

From the very first day, I was accompanied by a feeling of indescribably strong spiritual support, and that what I had been searching for throughout my life was finally here. Although I did not immediately understand how to work with all of it, the knot of understanding gradually unraveled over the years — organically and in proportion to my capacities.

As someone who is passionate about dance and expression through movement, I have always felt that body movements carry a specific spiritual language and meaning. However, among the various types of dance I practiced, I never found complete answers—until I discovered the Bereginyas practice.

This practice brought me confirmation that the language of sacred meanings expressed through body positions and movements truly exists — and that it is of great importance for us to learn and practice it.

Although I practiced Bereginyas gradually and mostly in a meditative way, like a prayer in movement, from the very beginning I had a vision that one day I would dance all of these movements and create the Sacred Dances of Bereginja.

Vođena velikom zahvalnošću što sam konačno pronašla ono za čime sam tragala, svakog dana sam uzbuđeno pronalazila vrijeme za praksu koja je nekada trajala i po 4 – 5 sati.

The more love and of myself I brought into the practice and my connection with the Bereginyas, the more they brought me healing, strength, clarity, and positive changes in my life.

As time passed and I continued to mature, learning to listen to the Bereginyas and their guidance, the calling that had been within me from the very start became clear — to share this practice with other women.

For the first year and a half, I practiced only for myself, learning to truly hear the wisdom of my own inner story.

And when what I had integrated began to overflow, I slowly took small steps into holding workshops, trainings, and readings of the Slavic horoscope for other women. It was a beginning that, through great love and dedication, over five years led to the creation of the Bereginja Dance School — a comprehensive program of practice, Slavic horoscope, and sacred dances.

I witness the natural birth of a systematic way of acquiring and transmitting knowledge through work and experience, as well as the rapid expansion of the practice itself. It is an honor to take part in this and to be an example that seemingly small steps truly carry great significance for many, if we dare to take them — even when it is not easy, or when we are completely alone in it.

The more we keep our path and our heart pure, the more spiritual support will be inclined toward us, and life will be blessed.

When I strengthened my connection with the Bereginyas, I left all other work behind and devoted myself entirely to working through this field—spreading and revitalizing this treasure in our regions, as well as among women worldwide, since the majority of my work is through online education.

I am grateful for the knowledge that comes to me most of all through practice, work, and experience.

The Symbols of Bereginyas

Throughout history, symbols have held a significant place in all cultures and communities. They were used, but also misused. Their meaning was sometimes distorted or hidden, yet despite that, they have survived to this day as a testament to sacred geometry, which carries immense power and helps humans understand the connection between spirit and matter in our existence.

The true meaning of a symbol opens access to its power
The first step in accessing the power of any symbol is to understand its true meaning. On this path, I first encountered symbols seriously through the Bereginya Practice, which uses 27 Belarusian symbols, each associated with a corresponding archetype.

Thus, we have symbols for successful communication, strengthening willpower, harmony in marriage, ancestral support… and more.

By interpreting archetypes, practicing exercises, and contemplating the meaning of each symbol, within just a few years of dedicated work, I began to recognize the equivalence of all ancient Slavic symbols, as well as symbols from other cultures. Understanding that symbols are a universal language—not just of humanity, but a language through which spirit and matter, all natural laws, and energetic patterns communicate—I consider symbols to be a language of light. When understood properly, this language allows us to communicate with higher powers and exist in harmony with nature.

Among ancient Slavic symbols, the most common represent the Earth and Sun, but also healing, abundance, attraction, celebration, and joy… Then, there are symbols connected to deities, each of whom is linked to a natural force.

However, the most important aspect is that every ancient Slavic symbol carries a universal power: protection. For this reason, our ancestors included symbols on clothing and jewelry, as a way to protect themselves from negative influences and attract blessings and abundance.

How to use symbols?
To understand a symbol’s significance, it is not enough to simply know its meaning. One must engage with it experientially. Our foremothers did this through weaving and embroidery. For them, these handmade works were like prayers, through which they infused love for the well-being of their loved ones and themselves. In ancient times, such handmade items were passed down from generation to generation and were never sold, because the longer they were kept in the family, the greater their value. You can only imagine the spiritual support and significance a piece of embroidery from your 16th or 17th-generation ancestor would carry if it survived to reach you.

Some women today, through the Bereginya practice, reconnect with weaving and embroidery. For communication with symbols, we also use drawing, marking symbols on the skin, and visualizing symbols in the energy centers—chakras. When connecting with a symbol, besides receiving the power of its sacred geometry, we also set an intention and seek the benefit we need.

If you do not practice any of these methods, a simple way to work with symbols is to surround yourself with them in the space where you live or work. Just make sure to learn the meaning of the symbols from someone who truly knows them. And of course, it is always better to create the symbol yourself or have it made by someone with pure and honest intention.

Still, it is not enough to simply place a symbol in a space and expect it to “work” on its own. Similar to crystals, symbols act energetically in accordance with our intention and the relationship we cultivate with them. They need to be activated, directed, and, if necessary, energetically cleansed and maintained.
